"To an Absent Muse" received First Place in Drawing at Middletown Arts Center's Area Art Show. "Just a Boy Again" has also been accepted in the show. The jurors for the show are Kristine Schramer, currently an assistant professor of Fine Art at the Columbus College of Art and Design, and Brent Payne, an adjunct professor at Miami University of Ohio. The Middletown Arts Center is located at 13 N. Verity Parkway in Middletown, Ohio. Gallery hours are Monday, 9 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.. The opening reception will be held Friday, August 15 from 6 p.m. to 8p.m. with the awards presentation at 7 p.m..

Miamisburg Art Guild 6th Annual Juried Art Exhibition

"Ten Words" has been accepted in Miamisburg Art Guild's Sixth Annual Juried Art Exhibition. The opening reception is August 16th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Miamisburg Art Gallery is located at 16 N. Main St in Miamisburg, Ohio. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Dayton Visual Arts Center 17th Annual Open Members' Show
July 18 through August 21 2008
Opening Reception Friday, July 18, 5 - 8 p.m.
"No Hanging Chads (Art to Take Your Mind off Politics" is the Dayton Visual Arts Center's 16th Annual Open Members' Show. Favorite works in all media and styles by member artists will be on display in the NCR Gallery at DVAC. Every member is invited to exhibit one piece and Ken's piece "12:14" is among the art on display. The show will be juried for $1000 in cash prizes. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday,11 a.m. - 6 p.m.; until 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Street Warz
June 7 through August 24
Main Street Art & Music Festival June 7th from 11am-11pm
The Art Central Foundation presents Street Warz on Central Avenue in The Art Central District of downtown Middletown beginning June 7th and running through August 24th. Street Warz is a photography contest that is a chance to show some pride in your street. Professionals and amateurs will be showing photographs of the street where they live. The photographs show the beatiful, interesting, and unique aspects of their street.

The photographs are on display in the windows across from the new Governor's Square Park at the corner of Broad and Central. Ken has two photos on display.

Got Art Fall 2007

Middletown Holiday Season Opener November 18th from 1pm-7pm
The Art Central Foundation presents our Fall 2007 Art Walk on Central Avenue in The Art Central District of downtown Middletown beginning November 18th and running through January 6th. The annual event showcases the art of more than twenty regional artists and artisans who will place their works on display throughout downtown in storefront windows.

The event opens on November 18th with the Middletown Holiday Season Opener "An Artful Affair on the Square" that will include artist demonstrations, carriage rides, the arrival of Santa and the official tree lighting at the new Governor's Square Park at the corner of Broad and Central. It's going to be a great day of family fun and it's absolutely free. Come on down and enjoy the delightful holiday atmosphere and show your support for our artist community.

This time around Ken has ten pieces on display, "1214", "Concepcion", "Pond", "From Where I Sit", "Untitled (Budapest)", "Barcelona from La Sagrada Familia", "6 pm", "Lost", "I Don't Understand Keeping Secrets From Me" and "Evening Drive By". The pieces are on display at #1 Main St., which is located on the corner of Central and Main. Ken's work is facing Main St.

ViewPoint 2007 National Juried Art Exhibition
November 2 through November 18 2007
Opening Reception Friday, November 2, 6 - 9 p.m.
"To An Absent Muse" has been accepted into ViewPoint 2007, the 39th annual juried art competition of the Cincinnati Art Club. ViewPoint 2007 is comprised of 65 selected works from many nationally known artists. The Cincinnati Art Club, founded in 1890, is one of the oldest and most active nonprofit organizations in the United States.

This year's exhibition juror is David Pyle, Group Publisher for The Artist's Magazine, Watercolor Magic, and Pastel Journal with F+W Publications. He is also a painter, holding a BFA in painting/drawing from the University of Colorado at Denver. Pyle has authored over 100 magazine articles on art materials and techniques and is the author of What Every Artists Needs to Know About Paints and Colors (Krause Books, 2000).

A variety of awards totalling over $3,000 will be given at the opening reception Friday, November 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. The reception is open to the public. The exhibition will continue on Saturdays and Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. until November 18th. The Cincinnati Art Club is located at 1021 Parkside Place in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Miamisburg Art Guild 5th Annual Juried Art Exhibition

"To An Absent Muse" has received Fisrt Place in Pastels in Miamisburg Art Guild's Fifth Annual Juried Art Exhibition. "6 pm" also won Third Place in the Miscellaneous category. This years judge is Tom Bradrick who was an Dayton Public Schools art educator for 34 years and is currently teaching at Hithergreen Senior Center in Centerville, Ohio. Awards were presented during the opening reception on the 18th at 2 p.m. The Miamisburg Art Gallery is located at 16 N. Main St in Miamisburg, Ohio. Gallery hours are Thursday and Friday, 5 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.; Saturday 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.; and Sunday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

"Barcelona From La Sagrada Familia" wins Best of Show
Ken's pastel and ink drawing "Barcelona From La Sagrada Familia" was picked Best of Show during the opening art walk for Got Art. Got Art is a twice a year event that features the works of some of the area's finest artisans elegantly displayed in storefronts throughout downtown Middletown on Central Avenue. The event which took place in May and June of this year had the work of over 20 artists on display. Ken had four pieces on display, "Barcelona from La Sagrada Familia", "Woman In New York City", "From Where I Sit", and "Just a Boy Again". Look for the next Got Art event in November

"Just A Boy Again" wins Award of Excellence
"Just A Boy Again" won an Award of Excellence at The 17th Annual Dayton Area Works on Paper show. The show was held in February and March of 2007 at the Rosewood Arts Centre in Kettering, Ohio. Ken's piece was one of 57 pieces in the exhibition representing 43 artists. The show was juried by Judy Anderson, artist and teacher from Columbus, Ohio. The Rosewood Arts Centre is located at 2655 Olson Drive, Kettering, Ohio 45420. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m., Fridays, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
